Janene Dravsnik
Provisional Psychologist
Janene enjoys working with all ages and clinical presentations but has a strong interest in working with clients in the perinatal period (both mothers and fathers) as well as culturally/linguistically diverse women and new parents. Janene is a neurodiversity affirming clinician and enjoys working with both childhood and adult neurodiversity.
She believes in an integrative approach to psychotherapy that focuses on building a strong therapeutic relationship. She is considerate and responsive to her client’s preferences and individual goals.
Janene is a provisional psychologist with first class Honours in Psychological Science from Central Queensland University where she was the APS Prize recipient for 2017. She completed her thesis on canine-assisted therapy and its potential to enhance the participation of children in psychotherapy with findings suggesting a significant increase in treatment acceptance and retention.
As a research assistant, Janene has also investigated loneliness with a focus on differences between urban and regional communities. She also supports the teaching of undergraduate social psychology. Janene has also worked as a mental health crisis response counsellor and peer support worker.
