If the client is referred by their GP under the Better Access program, the GP will conduct a short assessment to determine what your primary concerns are and will then complete a Mental Health Care Plan so you can make your first appointment. The care plan will be given to you, or it will be faxed direct to us. Clients with a Care Plan may access up to 10 reduced rate sessions per calendar year.

Couple Therapy and Relationship Counselling

The standard fee for Relationship Counselling during business hours is $195 per session. Couples may also attend therapy outside standard business hours (i.e., Thursday evenings until 8pm) and these sessions are charged at $210 per session.

National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)

Our psychologists are NDIS providers for self-managed and plan managed clients. The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provides Australians aged under 65, who have a permanent and significant disability with funding for supports and services.

The standard fee for NDIS individual therapy consultations (with a psychologist) is $214.41. Self-Managed clients pay this fee at the time of their consultation, and we provide a receipt to claim on your NDIS funding. NDIS Plan Managed clients will need to provide us with the plan manager’s details, and we will bill the plan manager directly. The number of sessions available will depend on the individual’s funding for psychological treatment.

Cancellation or missed appointment fee

As per recommendations provided by the NDIS, two business days’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule an appointment without accruing a missed appointment fee. The missed appointment fee is $214.41 and is covered by your NDIS funding. If you are self-managed the outstanding amount must be paid before another session can be booked. Please note: If a missed appointment fee is incurred, all future appointments will also be cancelled until the outstanding fee has been attended to.

Open Arms – Veterans & Families Counselling

Ex and Serving members of the Australian Defence Force may be referred through Open Arms for individual therapy or couples counselling. Open Arms is billed directly for therapy and there are no out of pocket expenses for clients referred by this service. Ex and Serving members of the Australian Defence Force should contact Open Arms directly to enquire about a referral. Clients referred by Open Arms initially attend for 3-5 sessions; a short report is then prepared by the psychologist together with a request for funding for further sessions if required. Typically, Open Arms clients are eligible for up to 15 sessions (more under extenuating circumstances). More information can be found here.

Private Health Insurance

You may also be able to claim a rebate for therapy if you have private health insurance. Each insurer has different rebates available, however these rebates are dependent on the level of cover requested when the insurance was commenced. Contact your health insurer directly for details on your cover.

WorkCover

Psi Balance Psychology also provides psychological counselling through WorkCover – typically through ‘Return to Work’ plans. These services are fully funded by Workcover and more information on how to access this support can be provided by our administration team.

Cancellation Or Missed Appointment Fee

If, for some reason you need to cancel or postpone your appointment, please give us at least two business days’ notice. Sessions cancelled or rescheduled with less than two business days’ notice will incur a late cancellation fee of $100.  A missed appointment will also incur a fee of $100.

Please note: If a missed appointment fee is incurred, all future appointments will also be cancelled until the outstanding fee has been attended to. Unfortunately, Medicare does not cover missed appointment fees and hence this must be paid privately by the client. The missed appointment fee may be waived if a medical certificate is provided. However, the certificate must be acquired and dated at the time of the medical concern and must clearly indicate that a medical practitioner has diagnosed a condition.

Fee Processing

We require clients to provide their credit card details for secure encrypted storage in our office management software – Power Diary.  This allows charges and Medicare rebates (if applicable) to be processed automatically at the time of the client’s appointment

Please note that if you choose not to provide authorisation for your credit card to be charged after your sessions, we respect your decision. However, we would be unable to extend telehealth services in such cases. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in adhering to our policy. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this matter, please feel free to discuss them with our team. Your privacy and preferences are important to us, and we strive to accommodate them while providing the best possible service.
